What's the difference between the different certificates?

Standard SSL certificate
A standard SSL certificate gives you the ability to encrypt the connection between your website and your customers browser.

This certificate only covers one domain or subdomain. This means that you'll have to use it on either your-domain.dk or for example www.your-domain.dk.

EV SSL Certificate - Extended Validation SSL Certificates
An EV SSL-certifikat signifies the highest level of trust in terms of your website. The green address bar gives visual confirmation to your customers, that your website is secure - which also results in them completing their transaction. To create an EV SSL-certifikat we require a complete company validation, which ensures that the green address bar is associated with the most trustworthy companies.

This certificate supports, like the standard SSL certificate, one domain or subdomain. It's not possible to secure more than one name, with this certificate.

Wildcard SSL Certificate

The Wildcard certificate works just like a standard SSL certificate but with more benefits. A single Wildcard SSL certificate can secure all the subdomains you'd like to use it for - there are no limits. This way, you won't have to worry about whether or not the connection between you and the customer, will be encrypted.

A single Wildcard certificate can for example work with *.your-domain.dk and be used to secure:

  • login.your-domain.dk
  • mail.your-domain.dk
  • download.your-domain.dk
  • osv.your-domain.dk
